Perks for your contribution:

The "Future of Healthcare" project empowers high school students in low-income communities to become tomorrow's health leaders while helping today's healthcare professionals help patients with social needs.

Help us expand to 2 high schools in 2013!

In our Fall 2012 pilot program, we worked with a free charter high school in South LA to educate 36 students with a service-learning curriculum and online geomapping technology. We successfully demonstrated how to:
  • Teach tomorrow's health leaders about the social determinants of health like housing, food security, and living wage jobs
  • Map nearly 230 community resources with a quality assurance process to ensure accuracy
  • Help local healthcare professionals better connect with the social services that patients need with a easy-to-use online database

Who we are:
HealthBegins is a LA-based social enterprise founded by physicians to improve healthcare and the social determinants of health

Our South LA partner is Health Services Academy High School, a free South LA public charter school that employs the theme of health care to provide students with rigorous college-preparatory instruction.
