Violence is a leading cause of death for Los Angeles youth.  In addition, poor neighborhoods in Los Angeles lack youth-oriented programs that promote healthy lifestyles and prevent violence.

Justice by Uniting in Creative Energy (J.U.i.C.E.) is a non-profit weekly hip hop arts program that seeks to develop youth leadership and technical skills, creative expression and self-confidence through the artistic elements of hip hop which include breakdancing, urban art, deejaying, emceeing/spoken word and music recording. Our mission is to address the root causes of juvenile crime and of youths’ need for belonging by providing a safe center run by and for young people, focused on skill building in the arts of the hip-hop culture.

The program is free for all age groups. Our vision is to sustain a safe and permanent home for youth where the elements of hip-hop are used as a tool for healthy living, social change, youth empowerment and art education.

We hope to raise $1500 to purchase art supplies and equipment to sustain a 10 week mentorship course for at-risk youth.  Youth will spend 4 hours/week in a supervised creative project, and learn healthful life skills such as better nutrition, active lifestyle/physical education, education counseling and support, and conflict resolution.
